Amberlyn was born August 3, 2000 in Mattoon, IL. She was a student at Oakland High School and just completed her sophomore year. She participated in cheerleading and loved to hang out with her friends. Her personality was adored by many, especially her younger sister and her nieces.
She is survived by her parents: Kim (Todd) Ethington of Oakland, IL and James Humes of Mattoon, IL; four siblings: Brittany Humes (Kyle Boyd) of Robinson, IL, Jayden Ethington of Oakland, IL, Eleni Ethington (Kohl Key) of Brocton, IL and Seth Ethington of Oakland, IL; her grandparents: Bill and Ellen Humes of Mattoon, IL, Kyle Allen of Varna, IL, and Hap and Mary Ethington of Oakland, IL; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, and her maternal and paternal great-grandparents.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from noon to 8:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, with the family present after 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Amberlyn Humes Memorial Scholarship, which will be awarded to a member of the OHS Class of 2018 upon their graduation.
