Oakland Independent- 6/25/2015 issue

Oakland Independent
This week marks my 100th issue as owner/publisher of the Oakland newspaper! Whew! Here's what you'll find in it: Oakland native Kara Huber, an internationally renowned pianist now based in Toronto, is coming home in July to perform a benefit concert for the Oakland-Hindsboro Charitable Foundation; Oakland teacher, coach and athletic director Blake Doehring has resigned (as has assistant coach Jeremy Hudson, an OHS graduate who is taking over the Chrisman boys' basketball program); Don Douglas starts on a (humorous, as always) series about how school consolidation affected Hindsboro; readers share their thoughts in Letters to the Editor; Bob Clapp tells of Dr. Rutherford meeting Harriet; and we let you know who had a baby, who's engaged, who went on a medical mission trip to Mexico, who ran into a 1980s OHS coach, who made it through the Warrior Dash, and more! On newsstands now!
