Craig Shannon Willison

Craig S. Willison, age 46, of Oakland, IL went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 2, 2016 in Champaign, IL. He was born October 17, 1969 in Charleston, IL to Jerry and Shirley (Redden) Willison. He married Carol Giovanazi on September 17, 2004 in Elkton, MD; she survives.

He is also survived by a son, Grason Willison of Oakland, IL; step-sons Matt Cothin of Dallas, TX and Chris Beam of Hockessin, DE; his parents: Jerry and Shirley Willison of Oakland, IL; a brother: Kyley (Kelsey)… Willison of Oakland, IL; a grandmother, Mary Alice Willison; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a step-son: Andrew Cothin; and grandparents: Jim and Donna Redden and Herman Willison.

Craig attended Lakecrest School and graduated from Oakland High School. During his high school days, he attended a class through the University of Illinois and eventually became a certified aquanaut in Florida. After high school graduation, he and his friend Jody Ponder formed the original heavy metal bands, LATEM and DaggaGod, in which Craig was the drummer. He was previously employed at Willison Insurance Agency and Willison Real Estate as a realtor. He was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church and the Oakland Masonic Lodge #219. Craig loved his family, and enjoyed playing the drums, scuba diving, and spending time at the beach. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and everyone who knew him as “Song Bird.”

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland, IL, with Masonic Rites to follow. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
