John W. Stark, age 85, of Oakland, IL, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.
John was born February 21, 1931 in Oakland, IL to Fred and Kathryn Stark. He married Mary Jane Washburn on February 4, 1950. He was a self-employed contractor, and later bought and sold used cars. John was a member of the East Harrison Street Baptist Church in Charleston. He loved to roller skate in his younger years, and enjoyed dancing… and fixing cars.
He is survived by two sons: Johnny (Wanda) Stark of Tell City, IN and David (Patty) Stark of Oakland, IL; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son: Floyd Stark, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Krabel Funeral Home in Oakland. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service, beginning at noon. Burial will follow in Oakland Rosedale Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Oakland Food Pantry or the Back Pack Program.
